Get Your Hooks & Needles Ready: The Project Linus Knit & Crochet Along Is Coming!
There is something especially wonderful about watching a ball of yarn become a blanket.
One stitch becomes a row. One row becomes another. And somewhere along the way, all of those small stitches become something warm enough to wrap around a child who needs a little extra comfort.
This fall, Project Linus is bringing knitters and crocheters together for its Knit & Crochet Along, and we would love to have our Gulf Coast Alabama friends join in!

Registration opens Saturday, September 26, 2026, through Project Linus Headquarters.
Participants may choose either the knitted or crocheted pattern with a $20 donation to Project Linus, or sign up for both for $40. Downloadable pattern instructions will be available to registered participants beginning October 10, 2026.
And this isn’t something you have to make quietly at home by yourself.
There will be a Facebook group for the Knit & Crochet Along, where participants can stitch alongside Project Linus Blanketeers from around the globe. We love that part. You can share your progress, see what everyone else is making, and enjoy the wonderful feeling of knowing that all those hooks and needles are busy together for the same reason.
One important note for our Gulf Coast friends
When you register, please be sure to designate GULF COAST ALABAMA as your chapter.
Doing so means funds can be directed back to our local Project Linus chapter, helping us continue putting handmade blankets into the hands of children right here along the Alabama Gulf Coast.
You certainly don’t have to be one of our regular Blanketeers to participate. If you’ve been looking for a reason to pull out your knitting needles, pick up your crochet hook, learn something new, or simply spend a little more time making with your hands this fall, we’d love for you to join us.
There is no single stitch that makes a blanket.
It happens little by little, with one small act following another—and community works much the same way.
A person makes a blanket. Someone else donates supplies. Another helps us get it where it needs to go. And eventually, a child receives something handmade that says, in its own quiet way:
Someone was thinking of you.
So mark your calendar for September 26, choose your needles or your hook, join the Facebook group, and come stitch along with Blanketeers near and far.
Visit Project Linus Headquarters for registration beginning September 26
And remember to select Gulf Coast Alabama when you register.
Small stitches really can make a big difference.
